From community clubs to businesses, we love working with groups!
“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world: indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.” M. Mead
Work as a group to plan and host a donation drive! From gently used children's clothing or winter coats to new shoes or underwear we need groups to help collect all of these items. The more clothing we have, the more children we can help!
Take your donation drive one step further and host a sorting party at the end of the collection!
You never know what work needs to be done at Boxes of Basics HQ. One day its sorting donations, the next day you could be packing a box for a local child.
Schedule your group for a 2-hour shift and we will put you to work!
Each Box of Basics contains a dental hygiene kit. We include a toothbrush, toothpaste and floss to help promote dental health. Click the button below and take this letter to your next dental visit! Ask your providers to donate items for our dental kits. Make it a party and put the kits together at as a group or let us do the work.
Plan an event to benefit Boxes of Basics! Golf tournament, 5k run/walk, BINGO night, pickleball tournament or a formal dinner at your home with a private chef there are many options! We are happy to chat about your event and support in any way we can.
Groups are encouraged to volunteer on weekdays. Weekend shifts are extremely limited. Our volunteers have so much fun we are booked and currently scheduling weekend shifts into 2024. We have more options and flexibility Monday - Friday.
Children who would like to volunteer in the Boxes of Basics warehouse to pack and sort clothing must be at least 12 years old and must be accompanied by an adult the entire shift. If you have a group of children 12 or under check out our page for future volunteers! https://boxesofbasics.org/young-volunteers
We love our young volunteers but have found that working in the warehouse lends itself to older teens and adults. We want to encourage your group of young people to give back and have designed volunteer opportunities that are suitable for the younger crowd. https://boxesofbasics.org/young-volunteers
Boxes of Basics will follow the Prince William County School decisions in the case of inclement weather. If Prince William County Schools are delayed OR cancelled, then all volunteer shifts and Boxes of Basics activities are cancelled for the entire day.
Volunteers and staff should always use their best judgement and put their personal safety first in instances of inclement weather.
Please email Program Manager Sally Crockett to schedule a group: sally@boxesofbasics.org

We are looking for 500 GEM's. GEMS make it possible to plan, budget and help more local children.
